End of School Year Busy
There is no busy like an end-of-year crash-out teacher busy. Add to that my mother is getting married this month, my husband has been home only two of the last eight weeks, Lew's rehab, and Uno and I getting back out at Starter... oh, and throwing a baby shower for my sister, who is due with my first NIECE in August.

Family shenanigans |
I am tired.
In farm news, we finally have the perimeter fully fenced in no-climb dog-proof fencing (it only took 6 years to finish). The crazy hot but wet spring is doing weird things to our grass- but most of our pastures have recovered from winter wear and tear.
In horse news, Lew is pasture sound and back out with Uno. He trots and canters around really happily and honestly remarkably sound. He goes back to the vet mid month for a more long term plan and prognosis. The leg looks ... not great... and swells pretty bad when he is in for the day. BUT he doesn't drag his toe, he is happily weighting the leg normally, and does 2 mile in hand road walks 3 times a week.
Uno is a STAR as uausal. Our first time back out at starter showed our growing pains. His dressage was awesome and we jumped around SJ and XC clear, just SLOW. Like so so slow. Watching the replay it wasn't even really our pace (which was slow) but the lines I was ridding - I was doing big wide sweeping turns to line up with the jumps as far away as possible - it looked like it would have been a great hunter derby round, not so much an XC round. In SJ we tried bitless like we usually ride and there was just so much discussion in the corners that although the jumps were great we were also a few seconds over time there as well. So yesterday when we went back out for our second attempt at the level, my goal was to ride direct, forward, and use his XC bit in stadium. It was a success - we were 2nd out of 15 in our division, and 3rd out of 45 for the level.
School ends this week and let me tell you - I am ready!!
