Good Boy Lew

So Lew Lew did his first dressage show...

He even has a big boy halter as a birthday present from my Aunt!

We just did 2 Intro tests, and although I definitely earned my ammy card (I rode very conservatively and a little crooked), Lew did all the things in all the right places.  Other than a bit of tension in the warm up - a 20x40 that had 4 other horses in it - he was really really good.  I am going to get some of the professional pictures to post but really my take aways are:

1. Lew is fine as long as he is walking, he gets antsy when asked to just STAND, but walks around on a loose rein or lead very calmly.

2. He is pretty much the same as at home - he moved out great in the big ring before the bell rang, but found the little dressage arena hard.  His go to was to slow way down.  I am not mad about this - we know turning is hard for him, and his confidence in bending his body is still not there.

3. He is super obedient - the judge did not particularly like our very hunter-y loose rein ride, but Lew happily trotted all the circles and turns.  He was a little sucked back, but he does that at home too - it will come with time.

4. He knows when someone points a camera at him - HE IS A HAM!!  He was able to find the photographer each time.  He would point his ears at her and stare her down. So CUTE!!

What a GOOD GOOD boy!!!
