Dutch's feet

Dutch's feet have been a long standing issue.  Not a single person who has ever looked at his feet has had something good to say.

Even back when we both looked like this - we had to regularly take time off jumping because his feet could not handle it.

I also shared the healing process from this heel grab turned abscess.  Even in shoes his feet were AWFUL!

Right before our new farrier came out for the first time last week he started brewing an epic abscess. He was completely crippled by it.  Barely weight baring, not eating, miserable.  I did not take pictures of his trim, because even though she did a great job and was very patient with him, I was so focused on getting him comfortable that I did not really care about anything else.

Meanwhile Uno was off making me doubt everything.

I gave Dutch until Monday to improve. Shocker - he did not. So we called the vet.  They came out on Wednesday.  Dutch was completely non-weightbearing without 3 pads and soft ground.  The vet poked his foot for 2 minutes and found the LARGE abscess in his heel.  She helped it start to drain.  With in 5 mins he was standing on the foot again...

Why sir???

Then we moved on to X rays.... they are shared below, so have fun with the fun house mirror style anatomy.

Our plan is to cast him with the Easycare soft pads for a few months while we treat his white tine and slowly bring his toes back. Then we will look for a glue on or hoof boot he can wear 24/7 while the ground is hard.
