Little media.. but a very good boy

How is he this white...

 Oh man is Lew Lew making me a happy girl.  He had a bit of a break in February - mostly because I hate February and it's mud and it's gray and it's cold but not nice cold. I can only spend so many hours a week walking and trotting down the road.  Plus Lew is good, but I am not sure I 100% trust him with some of the questionable driving I have seen this month.

All that said, he picked up this week like he never stopped.  He lunged on Saturday and Monday.  Just an easy walk, trot, canter, and a few times over a little cavaletti bounce.  Then yesterday I got on to see what he remembered.  

1. He remembered all his bending and moving his ribs at the walk!!!!  Such a good boy is now doing fairly correct walk serpentines around our "little dressage" arena.

2. His trot is nice and steady.  He still wanted to pop into canter when asked to bend or turn the first few laps of trot, but I let him and he settled in nicely. After canter warm-ups, we were able to work on AND GET some nice bend all the way through his body at the trot.  We are focusing on squared off turns in a figure 8 around the ring - he struggles to hold curves and tries to fall in, but gets better and better the longer we go.

3. His canter is still a little stuffy - he is a big guy and he really struggles with FORWARD in short turns. But he picked up both leads and was happy to canter up and down the slopes in the arena without major losses of balance or brains.

His legs are still dark, but even those body dapples are SOOO MUCH lighter than last year.

He is really starting to ride and act like a horse and not a baby.  He also has a MUCH longer attention span.  I rode for 30 minutes, and he stayed with me, focused and wanting to work the whole time.  No baby fits about working for more than 15 minutes.

He will go out to his first show on the 15th.  I do not expect any prizes, but I am really excited to see where we end the year.  Intro dressage here we come!!
