Improvements: mostly pictures

House-y house

A dream come true
So the farm was falling apart we we bought it, in some ways it still is. *cough cough* crawlspace *cough cough*

However, we have finally gotten to the point where we can focus on some improvements that are non-structural.  We have finally reached the *fun* part.  Here are a series of before and after pictures that show the projects we have tackled in the past few weeks.  We are not all the way finished, as you will see, but gosh the difference it makes!

Arena:

Arena when we bought it.

After it was cleared.

After the fence went up.

This picture has had the angle corrected A LOT - also we learned that the horse will break any board set out like this.

Our neighbor breaking up the concrete pad of compacted dirt it had become.

Much better.

Barn:

This was what we bought - it was worse than it looks.
Step one: stone dust and gates.

Step two: New Roof.
Step three: THREE STALLS!!

Step four: new dutch doors

As of now

This is what you were looking at in the first pic!!
The Shed:
This is several stages in and to be honest - I kinda want to take the greenhouse part down and go back to this.
Green house tarp added

Current Set up: We store hay under the greenhouse part, because we found out the part of the shed behind the wall leaks really badly.

At least the front is cheerful.

I do not have any good before images for the deck or fire pit area, but here is what it looked like over Easter Weekend.

So cozy!

My favorite coffee spot

Baby flowers

The herbs

A mix of flowers and food.

Dinner for 10!

A pretty yummy spread.

When you consider that everyone thought we were crazy for buying a house that had been empty for so long and needed so much work, this place has really blossomed.  Although I feel more and more that our time here is limited (family and shorter commutes are calling) I love my little farm-ette.  This land has been really good to us, even if it has been bad for our pocket book.

Next week we will take a look inside, where there are more big changes afoot.
