Louis starts to do real horse things
So last night we managed to trot multiple circles without Louis losing his balance. Turning to the right is still real real hard. I think we are in a place where I may start adding very loose side reins when lunging to see if that helps him keep his shoulders in line.
His lunge trot work has gotten much better. He is relatively balanced and is starting to soften along his neck. We have added poles on opposite ends of the lunge circle and he is doing pretty well at figuring out his feet. He still sometimes is short behind over the pole, but it looks more like tight hamstrings combined with the newness of reaching with the back end and not just pushing.
At the end of our ride, we went to the barn gate. It took a minute for Louis to be comfortable walking up to the gate for me to unlatch it from his back.
Then we went up and down the barn driveway to end our ride.
